Openings in Ottawa (Part 2/2)
Concluding the article on Recent Closings in Ottawa, posted earlier this week, here are the most recent openings. It seems there has been a trend in the Nations Capital towards customizable food. From custom noodles, burritos and donuts here are the openings in the beginning of 2017.
Chipotle, the popular Mexican fast food chain has opened up at the Rideau Centre. There are two thousand locations throughout the world with stores already in Toronto and Vancouver.
La Noodle just opened its second location in Canada, in Kanata Centrum. The first location opened in mid-October, which also happens to be in Ottawa – at George and Cumberland. La Noodle serves lamanian noodles, the older cousin of ramen, which are all made by hand with a customizable thickness. This franchise originates from the far east, from the Chinese city of Lanzhou.
Maverick donuts recently opened their doors at the Blue Heron Mall, continuing on the theme of customizable food with make-your-own doughnuts. The Maverick Donut Company is a collaboration between five partners already working together for the Vittoria Trattoria and Lapointe Fish restaurants.
Some notable openings coming soon are Kettleman’s new trainyards location and Zaks Cantina to open beside Zaks Diner in the Byward Market. Additionally Giant Tiger will open their 16th store in Ottawa, which will be located at 1512 Merivale Road.
